17. A TOUCH OF STRENGTH

Around three months ago, almost, I've launched this blog to share my passion for interior with the world and at the same time to make a little dream come true. But at the same time all these ideas and inspirational pictures are making me crave for difference. The white walls in my house are so 2015 (the year I started living in my house) and now my mood totally switched from being a die hard minimalist to a color lover. Probably the posts talking about pink and emerald green, and the good weather that's on it's way, are the main reasons for that change. But we never talked about red before.

Red is well known as the color of passion, romance and love. But it also significance strength, energy and action. The color is warm yet positive and associated to our most physical needs and the will to survive. Wow, no wonder so many people like this color! It's even selling well when it comes to clothes, but a whole interior in red would be a little too much. Therefor a touch of it would awaken the strong and warm feeling it reflects. What do you think?

Most of the time people choose one specific wall in a room and give it an outstanding color. Red can be an option for that when the rest of your interior is minimalist. Even though, a big wall in such a bright color can be a little too much and some will prefer to play with cushions, a piece of furniture or decoration pieces. Also flowers in red are a must have and try to combine the items with other colors such as green, orange or dark blue. For a softer mix you can go for light pink, grey tones and brown.

Going back to the furniture part: I convinced my parents to give their living room and dining room a little make over. Most of the furniture was made out of a light wooden color, the floors where in stone white and nothing was going well together. And guess what? They've chosen a red couch! The rest stayed in the grey-black-white tones but we created something more warm and cozy. I can't wait to show you that little project.

Definitely don't wait 'till Valentine's Day to add some love or passion into your interior!
